Melbourne March 2025 Luncheon
The Melbourne March 2025 luncheon will be held at the Caulfield RSL on Thursday 27th March at 1200 hours for a 1230 start.
The guest speaker will be Nigel Holmes VK3DZ. His presentation is titled 'Radio Australia, CSIR and the ionosphere'.
This will cover the role of the Shepparton International High Frequency
Transmitting Station (IHFTS) in carrying Radio Australia for 74 years
is known to many. Less well known is its role in research of the
ionosphere and reflecting HF transmissions from the Moon's surface. The
illustrated talk will outline the research and the mechanisms
used to achieve this feat.
The Caulfield RSL offers a two course meal at a cost of $36.00 per
head. Soft drink, beer, wine and other drinks can be purchased from the
bar.Tea and coffee can be purchased downstairs.
RAOTC members are welcome to bring a friend, but we must have firm

popular and well attended monthly luncheons for RAOTC members and
friends in and around Perth are held on the second Tuesday of each
month.
Following on from previous discussions, a number of members attended
the RAOTC Luncheon at the High Wycombe Bar and Grill on Tuesday 11th
March. At the conclusion of the lunch, a unanimous decision was
made to attend the High Wycombe Bar and Grill for the Tuesday 8th April
RAOTC Luncheon, starting at the usual time of 1130 WAST and this was
duly booked by Alasdair VK6ATX. Phil VK6ZKO, will not be able to
attend either the 8th April or the 13th May lunches due to other
commitments.
The High Wycombe Bar and Grill, is located at High Wycombe Village
Shopping Centre, 530 Kalamunda Road, High Wycombe. The extensive
Standard menu may be viewed on the High Wycombe Bar and Grill web site.

There is ample parking available in the adjacent car park.
The venue is accessible by public transport via the train to High
Wycombe Station, linking with Bus Route 276 (Transperth Bus Timetable
#109), and alighting on Kalamunda Road near the corner of Cyril Road
approximately 300 metres from the venue. it would be appreciated if
Alasdair could be notified of those planning to attend, to ensure that
